I never thought my first blog would be on recession. If Obama's "Change" is the most used word in year 2008 then "recession" would probably be the second most used word in 2008. It may top the charts in 2009. The other synonyms for "recession" could be "Lay offs","Fired","Pink Slips" etc. Though these are not synonyms literally, these words mean same in the context in which they are used.
I read news everyday, like all other curious people follow the news of organization who lays off or talks about decreased profit or even worse -ve growth. Along with these news i come across with articles where my heart stops beating for a while. Headlines like "man kills self after killing family", "Man commits suicide after losing job" etc.
This makes me remember the famous quote "Don't live to eat, eat to live".In the same lines we can say "Job is only part of living, living is not for job". I am writing this article what i felt after reading such articles. Truly i never thought these things(what i am writing below) before coming across such headlines. I made myself strong that even at down times i won't quit fighting my problems. Depressing, quitting or running away will not help in any means. Good thing is remember our ancestors.
If we can go back a long long long ago in stone age, we can recollect that, people then were just wanderers, they used to search food, find it and keep on living till they died. If we can think about this then we can ask ourselves that "are we strained from square meals a day"? The world has loot of food available to feed each one of us throughout our life. Again it's a different thing that some people in poor countries die of starvation which is out of scope of this discussion. So first and foremost important thing to live is "Food". so before thinking too much about recession and cursing our fate let's ask ourselves "Are we not capable of earning which could avail us a square meals a day?"
Again we will go back long long ago our ancestors started protecting themselves from sun, cold, rain etc by using skins of wild animals, leaves of trees etc and by staying in caves. In modern day they are termed as "clothes" and "House". There are so many fancy words for these basic things like bungalow, summerhouse, attire etc. But basically these are clothes and house for sheltering ourselves. Following in the similar lines of Food "Aren't we capable enough or blessed enough to live in houses and wear clothes?" .Again it's a different thing that some people live on roadsides, some people cramped in a hut and some live in a bungalow. These things have happened because of humans going against nature of economic equality and many other stuff which is out of this discussion. The basic idea is there are enough houses and clothes in this world to live in and cover ourselves.
Again if we go long back, people used to transport with animals, foot, pulling carts etc. Communication was by hand written letters delivered by a messenger,no gadgets,no lavish eat-outs, etc. people used to manage with that and they were happy or atleast not so much worried.
Okay, now we compare with modern day once job is gone we will respond by not socialising with friends and family, cursing as many people or sometimes to God who knows what is good for us.
The first thing when we are down in life in any means, we should ask ourselves whether these basic things are available to us or not ?If yes then wait for good times. Forget about spending on GF's,movies eatouts, loans,(if some legal action against you, face it),movies, music and all others which are not basic for living. The important thing is to live and face it. One has to strongly believe that "We will have good and bad times in life".
To conclude i have one thing to say "If a problem can be solved, what's the use of worrying and if a problem cannot be solved even then what's the use of worrying?"
Yes I'll go with this - "We will have good and bad times in life".
ReplyDeleteReally nice article . Death is not a solution for everything; we need to face problems ,
